Selection Criteria

All program participants shall be selected by the Leadership Augusta selection committee. The selection criteria will include but not be limited to individuals: 

With a sincere commitment, motivation, and interest in their community. 

Who seek out opportunities for leadership in their schools.

Who are interested in seeking key volunteer leadership roles, public office, boards, or commissions. 

With the interest in remaining in the Richmond County area.

With demonstrated leadership qualities or potential for development of those qualities.

Selection Process

There will be an application and interview selection process that begins at each local high school. Each school can submit up to (5) names to Leadership Augusta for consideration.

Students will be asked to apply for the program from March 1st to March 25th during their sophomore year. 

Applications can be found at each high school counselor’s office or online at www.ylrc.org. 

Applications must include (2) reference forms and a permission form signed by the student’s parents and principal. 

Student selection and notification will be done by May 13th.

The program will place priority on academic, geographic, gender, and racial diversity.

Interviews will be held during after school hours at the Augusta Metro Chamber of Commerce’s offices.

Eligibility Requirements

Interested students with parental permission should be:

Residents of Richmond County. 

Attending a Richmond County public or private school or are in verifiable, non-traditional, high school studies (home schooled).

A high school Junior prior to September 1st of the program year.
